Our Wedding
08-08-2008
14.00 Boel looked at the date whilst at work and started to talk to her boss about the date that it was a special day because both the 8 and the 0 are considered as symbols of eternity as they are never ending.
Then a thought came over Boel that we had been together for the last 8 years, that was the last "sign" that Boel needed and made the decision that today was to be the day that we were to be married.
A few desperate phone calls later and she had found someone that could perform the ceremony later on the same day.... If all the needed paperwork could be acquired and signed in time, time is now 15.00 and the people that could fill in the paperwork were leaving for the weekend at 16.00.....
Meanwhile a totally unaware Michael is sitting at the table with some of the children heartily eating their dinner when his phone rang, it was Boel "can you drive 50km in less than an hour its urgent" she said. Meeting place to be divulged in due course. So no time for questions as time was now of the essence. All the children were quickly bundled in to the car chewing whatever they had in their mouths and plates still spinning on the table.
15.45 Michael arrives with the children at the address given to him over the phone during the journey. He ran in to the building and was told to sign some papers which he promptly did (without question). Boel now tells him for the first time that they are to be married today (as long as the papers are now approved).
16.01 Papers now all in order begins the next mad dash to get home as we have a time for the ceremony at 18.00 60 km away. Frantic phone calls from the car to the remaining children at home to tell them what was happening and to allow them to prepare themselves. Quick stop on the way home for flowers.
16.45 We all arrive at home after driving through a huge rain storm in rush hour traffic on a Friday..Every one to code red, shower, shave, and change of clothing for all and then back in the car. Back through the rain storm and arrived out side of Nolia in Piteå (a twice yearly exhibition). We know that it is a strange place to get married but we were told that there were 3 people that could perform the ceremony, one was on holiday one was booked and at a wedding already and the third was at the exhibition. Boel managed to get his phone number and called Mats Johansson who kindly agreed to do it for us. "One of the strangest weddings i have ever heard of" he said "I have never heard of anyone that could arrange a wedding in just 4 hours including all the paperwork" (that's my Boel ).
17.45 We are taken to the social democrats stand where we could meet Mats Johansson who would perform the ceremony.
While walking to the stand Boel got the chance to ring a friend of ours Anna-Stina who happened to have a stand at Nolia and ask her if she would like to come to our wedding which was happening NOW outside of the building where she had her stand her reply was " I have worked all day I am sweaty and I have crocs on my feet, the two of you are mad........ I'll be there!!!". More papers to fill and a quick chance to catch our breaths.
Mats had kindly managed to arrange a photographer to be there so pictures from him to follow.
18.00 And the ceremony could begin.
Present were Boel and Michael, Witnesses Linda Henriksson (Boel's friend and Boss) and Tommy Eriksson (Boels eldest son) Boels other children Emil Eriksson and Patrik Eriksson, our son Alex Kerry, friends Anna-Stina and her boyfriend Mats.
18.30 After the ceremony (we both said YES by the way). We had our photos taken and as a bonus we received flowers and 1 years free membership to the social democrat party.
